Life Hack: Save $$ On Your Iced Coffee
Posted on November 2nd, 2016
I love my morning coffee ☕️. It feels like such a sacred ritual that is almost meditative. It brings me into the present moment as I take that first sip. Mmm.
Coffee has some amazing benefits. According to a Huffington Post article, Americans get more antioxidants from coffee than anything else. Of course, fruits and veggies have antioxidants but apparently the human body absorbs the most from coffee!
There’s a list of other benefits from drinking a hot cup of joe like the smell can help you feel less stressed and a reduced chance of skin cancer if you’re a woman. Coffee has also been shown to help your liver from developing liver cirrhosis, reduces chances of Parkinson’s disease, helps enhance your performance if you’re an athlete, keeps your brain healthy for longer, allows your brain to work in a smarter and more efficient way AND reduces the risk of getting type two diabetes. Major Yay!
Coffee can become an expensive habit, however, if you’re always buying it at cafes etc. Sure it’s nice every so often to go have a treat and enjoy the ambiance of your local coffee shop, but buying coffee often isn’t so good for your wallet. I know I’d much rather save my money and spend it on yoga clothes ? !
Below is a really simple, easy and delicious way to make an iced coffee with A French Press. I calculated how much I save per week, month and year. My calculations showed that I’m saving $25 a week, $100 a month and $1200 a year! Major difference, heelllooo yoga gear.
Here’s the recipe for your delicious iced coffee:
-Use 1/3 cup coffee for each 1 1/2 cups water. (In an eight cup French Press, I use 1 cup of coffee and 4 1/2 cups water.
-Put into a French Press and let it sit for 12 hours.
-Push down the plunger. I usually transfer the coffee into mason jars which I keep handy in the fridge and then start another batch.
– Pour what you want into a glass with ice, add milk and enjoy!
My yoga guru talks about how important it is to set an intention while we make our food as it affects our vibration. I always make my coffee the night before with this intention of love which makes it much more enjoyable the next morning when I wake up!
I hope this iced coffee makes you feel like a boss!
xo
