A Rising Warrior

Life is about trial and error. You have to play a game of figuring out what suits you best, keeping in mind to maximize your potential. I’ve come up with some of my own life tips that are great for me and I hope they help you!

Pamper your skin

I’ve recently been spending some quality time with my wonderful elderly French neighbor. She worked as a beauty therapist for over sixty years and even though she’s nearly 90 years old, her skin is amazing. Some of her tips include massaging the face with rosewater and then applying apple cider vinegar to tighten the pores.

My neighbor also advises to avoid sun damage so I liberally apply a moisturizer with sunscreen every day (even the cloudy ones).   I use a high SPF sunscreen on days that I’m going to be in the sun for long periods.

Creating a skin care routine not only helps your skin but also connects you to your body. We glow when we love ourselves fully.

Get sleep

I used to be quite a party girl back in college. Not that I still don’t enjoy going out with my friends but I’m much more into getting enough sleep. Slacking on those z’s affects how we feel, look and think. You need an adequate amount of energy to live your best life so try to shut off all electronics instead of spending that extra hour scrolling through Instagram before bed. Some of my favourite ways to unwind are hot baths with Epsom salts, essential oils, and reading a good book.

Live it up

Sometimes you think a healthy lifestyle means you have to forego all fun. That mindset makes it harder to stick to a good regime. Extremes don’t work for me. Moderation does. Life is short so fill it with things that make you happy. As long as you don’t go overboard, you don’t have to give up things that make you happy. Go ahead and have that glass of red wine! Being too rigid is toxic to our well being!

No well-being list is complete without exercise. What better way to increase endorphins? Exercise needs to be in cync our bodies though. Don’t push yourself to exhaustion. I’ve done that and it never works! Mix it up. Some days you might need a good boxing class and other days a restorative yoga class and a brisk walk. Whatever your body is saying you need, make it a priority to get moving and feel connected to your body.

I really do believe that when we take care of ourselves properly, we maximize our potential. Self-care isn’t selfish – it’s a necessity. I hope these wellness tips help you feel in charge and on top of the world.
