Despite having a list on my Target run, I somehow always stray.  It’s impossible to leave Target with just the things on your list. Am I right?! Anyway, I diverge.  Back to the blog post!

This trip I found myself in the skin section and I discovered Glow Recipe, a company dedicated to natural beauty products.  They make Korean skincare accessible to women everywhere. I bought the MD’s Pick Aqua Moist Water Rubber Mask. I’m now a fan!

If you’re wondering what on earth a rubber mask is and does it work, then you’ve come to the right place.

What is a rubber mask?

Rubber masks are considered a step up from sheet masks (although I love a good sheet mask).  You build the mask. This particular mask gave two packets – a base and a “snow melting powder”. You mix the two in the container with the mask. It was a bit messy, but the more you do it the more of a pro you become.  Also, just warning you that you will feel like a scientist.

Using their spatula, you apply a thick even layer to your face. These instructions said to wait 20-25 minutes while the mask hardens. I did question what I was doing wrong because my mask did not look like their picture. Don’t worry if this happens to you.

Then when the time is up, you simply peel the mask off.  It’s so different to the peel masks I used as teen. This mask came off super easy and doesn’t have that tugging sensation on the skin.

What’s it made of?

The mask is made of the following:

  • Licorice extract – to brighten the skin
  • Centella (a type of plant) – to soothe and nourish the skin
  • Ginger – to revitalize the skin
  • Hyaluronic acid – to hydrate the skin. This is really buzzy in all skincare products right now
  • Collagen – Promotes vibrant, glowing skin

The benefits:

It’s hydrating, cooling and relaxing. Your skin feels great afterwards but don’t expect it to fix super dry skin in one go.  It’s hard for any product to resolve issues after a single use. Another benefit is that it’s affordable which makes it more realistic to become part of your self-care routine.  I definitely suggest giving it a try.
